Public Hearing: Objective Design Standards

The City of Newark will hold a Planning Commission public hearing to consider Objective Design Standards and other zoning text amendments on July 14, 2026.

The City is developing Objective Design Standards (ODS) for residential development and mixed-use projects. The intent of ODS is to provide applicants and developers with a clear understanding of the City’s expectations for project design and a streamlined, objective, and efficient project review process.   

The Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing to consider Objective Design Standards and other zoning text amendments on July 14, 2026 at or after 7 pm.

Any interested person or authorized agent, or interested members of the public may appear at the public hearing to be heard and may submit written comments or request to view project details and information, including the complete application and project file (including any environmental impact assessment prepared in connection with the application) by contacting the project manager, Carmelisa Lopez, via email at: carmelisa.lopez@newarkca.gov.
